MidAmerica Service Dogs' Foundation provides service dogs to children and adults with mobility disabilities free of charge. We are an Illinois non for profit 501 (c)(3) serving the Chicago metropolitan and suburban areas.

MidAmerica Service Dogs' Foundation has placed over 40 service dog teams since 2009. All of our lives have been touched by the bond between the service dogs and their owners. It is our personal attention and dedication to this program that makes it second to none.

Mission Statement

The mission of MidAmerica Service Dogs' Foundation is to obtain, provide, and train service dogs for children and adults with mobility disabilities so that their lives may be enhanced, and they may benefit from the loyalty, friendship, and independence their service dogs provide.

Training Program

Our training program was developed by two expert trainers with a combined 40 years of experience in service dog training and over 50 years in general dog training.

We carefully select our puppies to begin training at around 8 weeks of age. They then undergo approximately 18 months of intensive, hands-on training through the Helping Paws Service Dog Training Program, a well-established initiative within the Illinois Department of Corrections. This successful program, led by female inmates, has been running for over 14 years.

Our commitment doesn't end when a service dog is placed. We provide ongoing training and support for the lifetime of the partnership. For children who receive a service dog, our team also attends IEP (Individualized Education Program) meetings to help ensure their service dog is integrated effectively into their educational environment.
