As a nonprofit organization, MidAmerica volunteers are the backbone of the organization.

• Volunteer requirements:

  • Attend a volunteer orientation. These occur throughout the year.

  • Agree to a background check.

  • Complete and sign the required Volunteer Waiver.

• Ways to volunteer:

  • Assist during our weekly class.

    • Class is held at the Hinsdale Community House every Monday from 6:00p to 7:00p (please be available at least 3 out of 4 Mondays per month).

    • Be comfortable assisting mobility disabled recipients and their service dogs during class.

  • Foster care.

    • We are in need of foster homes for puppy socializing and service dogs on furlough from the prison program. Interested in completing the application to become a foster?

  • Help with clerical tasks.

  • Fundraising - planning and executing the events.

    • We host fundraising events each year and always need help planning and executing these events. Fundraising efforts go towards acquiring future service dogs and the care of the dogs while they are in our training program.
